April 18, 2017 (Tuesday): Fly out

April 19, 2017 (Wednesday): Welcome to Israel!

April 20, 2017 (Thursday): Starting our day at Tel Beit Shemesh, Beth Shemesh is mentioned in connection with the return of the Ark of the Covenant by the Philistines. Continue to Ella Valley where Goliath was defeated by David. Next stop will be Lachish, which was the second most important fortified city in the kingdom of Judea, after Jerusalem. Before checking into your hotel you will have the opportunity to swim in the unique water of the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight Dead Sea.

April 21, 2017 (Friday): First stop will be Masada, situated on the Dead Sea. It was one of the fortresses luxuriously built and fortified by Herod the Great. After Masada we will go on a jeep tour into the desert; this is a wonderful opportunity for reflection. Driving north to Ein Gedi, It was here that David hid from Saul. Continue to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by a shepherd boy in 1947. Not far from Qumran is Jericho, also known as the “City of Palms”. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. We will see the famous sycamore tree and listen to the story of Zacchaeus. Driving via Jordan valley to our hotel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.

April 22, 2017 (Saturday): What can possibly be better than to start the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee? After the boat ride we will visit the “Jesus boat”, a fishing boat, about 2000 years old that was buried in the mud near the shore of the Sea of Galilee and found during a drought. Then we will visit several holy sites around the Sea of Galilee, starting with Capernaum that was the base of Jesus’ ministry. Then we continue to Tabgha, the traditional site of the Miracle of the Loaves and the Fishes which Jesus performed in order to feed the multitudes who had come to hear Him preach. We will also go to Mt of Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount took place. Visiting the new excavations at Magdala before going to the Jordan River for baptism. Dinner and overnight Sea of Galilee. 

April 23, 2017 (Sunday): Starting at Tel Hazor; a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its biblical history is rich: it was first conquered by Joshua and later became a main city of King Solomon. Continue to Omrit, a temple dedicated to Caesar August, on the way to Damascus. Not far from here you will find Tel Dan which combines a lush nature reserve with a biblical archaeological experience. We drive further on to Caesarea Philippi, which is the location where Jesus declared that he will build His Church. The site is also known as Banias, and it is a beautiful nature reserve, with waterfalls and streams that provide water to the Jordan River. Driving up to the Golan Heights, which have played an important role in Israel’s history, both ancient and modern.

April 24, 2017 (Monday): Driving westwards to Megiddo, also known as Armageddon. We continue to Mt Carmel, at Mt Carmel you will have a stunning view over the Jezreel Valley and the statue at the Carmelite monastery reflects the Lord’s victory over the prophets of Baal. Driving south to Caesarea Maritima, Caesarea played an important role in early Christian history. Here the baptism of the Roman officer Cornelius took place; (Acts 10:1-5, 25-28) from here Paul set sail for his journeys. 

April 25, 2017 (Tuesday): Wake up in Jerusalem, starting the day with a fascinating tour of the Western Wall tunnels. Then you will walk thru the Jewish Quarter, and the main street of the city during the Roman era. Continue to the nearby City of David, with its amazing history from the early days of Jerusalem. We will walk thru the tunnel that King Hezekiah built in order to secure the water supply to the city during the siege by the Assyrians. We continue to the Southern Stairs which was the main entrance to the Temple Mount during the days of Jesus. Ending the tour in the Old City with a visit to Mt Zion where we will visit the Upper Room, where the Last Supper to place, and Caiaphas’s’ house and the dungeon where Jesus were held the night before he was crucified. In the afternoon we will drive to Bethlehem. In Bethlehem we will go to the Shepherds’ field, from where the shepherds who saw the Star of Nativity. 

April 26, 2017 (Wednesday): Drive to the Mt of Olives where you have a stunning view over the Old City of Jerusalem. Then you will walk the Palm Sunday Route down to the Garden of Gethsemane. At the bottom of Mt of Olives you have Kidron Valley where you will see some impressive tombs: Then you walk thru the Stations of the Cross, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Last stop will be Garden Tomb. Back to the hotel for farewell dinner before checking out and travel to the airport.

April 27, 2017 (Thursday): Departure
